We like to record in the old school way, as pioneered by the great record labels of the past, Stax records, Chess records, Mussel Shoals, Motown records and Cosimo Matassaʼs in New Orleans…
You get a great band and a great singer, you put all your money on a song and you count to 4… 1, 2, 3, 4… GO!
Who are these people?
Belmar Records is a musician owned and operated label, studio and production house. It aims to document Melbourneʼs sprawling roots music scene, one track at a time.
If you donʼt live here, we should say Melbourne is a BIG LIVE-MUSIC TOWN and it has been for decades.
We have our fair share of classical musicians and Rock musicians and cover bands but itʼs the highly dedicated and creative roots music scene – Blues, Jazz, Soul, RnB, Rock a billy, Reggae, Country, Rock and roll, Western swing, Bluegrass and the rest that we think make Melbourne special and what we aim to get on tape!
What started as a trickle, when we released Belmar Records Top 10 vol 1 eight years ago, has become a big roots music billabong!
